ICJW at the UN in New York

The ICJW team of UN Representatives in New York represents ICJW at UN Department of Public Information briefings, UN program events, meetings of the informal Jewish NGO caucus and other committees, and as a signatory on declarations, advocacy campaigns, and resolutions.

The highlight of the UN New York calendar for women is the annual UN Commission on the Status of Women meeting (www.ngocsw.org) that takes place for two weeks in March.  ICJW is represented on the NGO CSW/NY Executive Committee, which provides a forum for substantive discussion on issues and policies under UN consideration relating to women, and for the exchange of important information. Every year, ICJW is an organizational sponsor of the NGO CSW/NY UN Women Ambassadors’ Luncheon, to honor the accomplishments of these female role models.

Since 1996, ICJW has been represented on the Executive Committee of the Council of Organizations, a coalition of NGOs with interest in education, social justice, energy and climate, women’s issues, sustainable development goals and human rights. ICJW is also an active member of the Committee to Stop Trafficking in Persons (CSTIP) and is represented on the Working Group on Girls (WGG); on the NGO Committee of UNICEF; on the UN NGO Human Rights Committee, which parallels the work of the UN Human Rights Council; and on the Committee on Sustainable Development. We also participate in a working group promoting gender equality of participation in science and technology.
