ICJW at CSW62

The sixty-second session of the Commission on the Status of Women takes place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 12 to 23 March 2018. Its theme this year is Empowering Rural Women & Girls.

The Priority Theme is “Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls” and the Review Theme is: “Participation in and access of women to the media, and information and communications technologies and their impact on and use as an instrument for the advancement and empowerment of women (based on agreed conclusions of the forty-seventh session).

ICJW is proud to be co-sponsoring two side events at CSW62:

On Monday March 12 we are co-hosting a discussion on “Women Political and Business Leaders: Achieving Economic Solvency with Rural Women”. Our partners for this event include the Permanent Missions of Fiji, Estonia, Chile and the Republic of Albania, and the League of Women Voters.

On Wednesday March 14, we are co-sponsoring an event organized by the NGO Committee to Stop Trafficking in Persons (NGOCSTIP) on “Technology as a Tool to Prevent Trafficking in Women & Girls”. The panel includes speakers from IBM, Thorn & the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and the District Attorney from the Brooklyn Human Trafficking Unit. Co-sponsoring organizations include a number of Christian NGOs, Soroptimist International, the National Council of Jewish Women and the Coalition against the Trafficking of Women.
