Eight senior representatives from ICJW attended the CSW62 events at UN Headquarters in New York City from March 12-23, 2018.  

In March each year, the ICJW team at the UN in New York attends events taking place during the two week Commission on the Status of Women meetings, where thousands of global women come to participate.

During the year, ICJW representatives are actively involved in planning the NGO side events. Madeleine Brecher is a member of the NGO CSW/NY planning team, and reports on the events organized by the NGO CSW62 Forum.

Rita Fishman is the ICJW representative on CSTIP – the UN NGO Committee to Stop Trafficking In Persons, and she organized and reported on the Side Event that they organized on “Technology as a Tool to Prevent Trafficking in Women & Girls”. The panel included speakers from IBM, Thorn & the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and the District Attorney from the Brooklyn Human Trafficking Unit. Co-sponsoring organizations include a number of Christian NGOs, Soroptimist International, the National Council of Jewish Women, and the Coalition against the Trafficking of Women.

ICJW was also proud to co-sponsor a Side Event at CSW62 on “Women Political & Business Leaders: Achieving Economic Solvency with Rural Women”. Our partners for this event included the Permanent Missions of Fiji, Estonia, Chile and the Republic of Albania, and the League of Women Voters.

The ICJW team attended and reported on a number of other CSW62 Side Events on Women Defending Human Rights, on Access for Justice for Rural & Migrant Women who are subjected to Sexual Assault, on Advancing Gender Equality Through Community Based Organizing and Global Advocacy.  Click on the links to see their reports.
