International Women’s Day

On March 8 2021, women around the globe will celebrate International Women’s Day. The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day 2021 is ‘WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP – ACHIEVING AN EQUAL FUTURE IN A COVID – 19 WORLD.’

The Campaign theme is ‘CHOOSE TO CHALLENGE’. This short punchy phrase aptly describes women’s current lives:

  • our challenging past year dealing with Covid 19 and
  • our ongoing battle to gain and retain our deserved position as equal partners in today’s world.

International Women’s Day is a meaningful day for all ICJW members. It is the day which recognises and celebrates the values and huge commitment of ICJW women to their communities, their organisations, to their families and within their workplaces.

International Women’s Day is a core day which links women and girls around the world, acknowledging   that we constitute more than half the global population and contribute far more than half in co mmunity service and support.

International Women’s Day has a long history : The first international women’s day was held in 1911.  During UN International Women’s Year in 1975 March 8 was adopted as an annual International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women worldwide.

Celebrate International Women’s Day  2021!  Join in, gather with women in your organisation and community, and go online to marvel at the wonderful work women contribute globally.

Be proud to be a woman, especially a member of International Council of Jewish Women!
