Shoah Remembrance

“The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators” (USHMM).

Shoah remembrance is important in order to educate people about what occurred during the Holocaust and to act as a counter to racism and genocide. Some important organisations are linked below.

Yad Vashem

Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, is one of the major sources for Holocaust commemoration, documentation, education and research. Yad Vashem is in Jerusalem, Israel.

U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) provides an excellent resources for learning more about the Holocaust.

The Claims Conference

The Claims Conference is the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany. The Claims Conference website says: “We care for Holocaust victims by providing vital services. We provide direct payments to Holocaust survivors with funds received from Germany and we negotiate to expand and create programs. We support organizations around the world that provide the best care for Holocaust victims. “

World Jewish Restitution Organization

The World Jewish Restitution Organization (WJRO) represents world Jewry in pursuing claims for the recovery of Jewish properties in Europe (outside of Germany and Austria). WJRO was established by leading world Jewish organizations to address the restitution of Jewish property and to remind the world that the time has come to redress the enormous material wrongs caused to European Jewry during the Holocaust.
