ICJW at the United Nations

ICJW is proud to have consultative status as a non-governmental organization (NGO) with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations, and maintains permanent delegations in New YorkGenevaVienna and Paris

This status enables ICJW to sit at the international table and to be heard in discussions on important issues, particularly ICJW’s priority campaign issues. Our role is both to bring the voice of Jewish women into the committee rooms of the United Nations, and also to report on the discussions which take place there to our membership around the world.

ICJW supports the aims of the United Nations to develop conditions for world peace, ensuring that all human beings may live in dignity and enjoy all fundamental human rights and freedoms as described in the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

ICJW & The Status of Women

ICJW supports the work of UN Women and is actively involved in the UN NGO Committee on the Status of Women.

We are involved in the programming of NGO events at the Commission on the Status of Women in New York each year.  We are also actively involved in the United Nations Non Governmental Committee to Stop Trafficking in Persons (NGOSTIP).

Since June 2013, ICJW is now represented on the Executive Committee of the Council of Organizations. The COO is a program of the United Nations Association of the USA and the United Nations Foundation, bringing together a coalition of more than 50 NGOs with interests in education, sustainable development, human rights, health and women’s issues and strengthening the US-UN relationship. The Council of Organizations plays a critical role in offering opportunities for leaders from the NGO community to develop partnerships with the UN and each other.
