This CSW70 event was organized by the Working Group of Girls, as reported by Judy Mintz.
This high-level, girl-led parallel event featured an intergenerational policy dialogue between girl advocates, Member State representatives, and UN agency officials. The goal was to develop a justice system that would be accessible, equitable, inclusive and survivor-centered. Justice remains a fundamental pillar of equality and human rights yet millions of girls still face discriminatory laws, lack of legal aid, gender-based violence and exclusion. The event aimed to move from political commitments to real change and also elevated experiences and solutions.
There was a panel discussion and interactive dialogue highlighting:
- The barriers that girls face when seeking justice (legal, social, cultural, economic, digital)
- Effective legal and policy reforms
- Partnership models between girls, governments and UN entities
- Innovative girl-led solutions based on education, mental health, digital safety, climate justice and gender-based violence.
