Prioritizing Girls

October 11 is the United Nations International Day of the Girl Child – a day dedicated to raising international awareness of issues facing girls around the world, such as education, nutrition, child marriage, legal and medical rights.

Speaking at the ICJW Quadrennial Convention in Sydney in May 2018, Professor Gillian Triggs, who heads a UN Committee on Safety and Harassment, emphasized the importance of creating strategies for safe and confidential reporting of incidents affecting girls around the world.

ICJW and its 35 affiliated women’s organisations around the world work tirelessly for the benefit of women and girls from all communities.
