Representing Jewish Women Worldwide

ICJW has joined the Committee of Religious NGOs at the United Nations (CRNGO), representing Jewish women around the world. Fran Butensky, ICJW Representative at the UN in New York, reports.

ICJW was invited to join this committee and we have accepted a position on their Bureau. We have been attending meetings in person and now on ZOOM for the past 4 or 5 months. The committee is composed of representatives of national and international non-governmental organizations.

CRNGO has an office at the UN in New York but there are no offices at any other UN locations.  It serves as a forum to inform and educate their constituencies about global challenges and the constructive role that the UN can play in addressing those issues. It also serves as a forum for exchanging and promoting shared religious and ethical values in the deliberation of the world organization. Currently, the committee is focused on climate change and has just completed the formation of a working group on climate.
